Instructions:
- Mixing the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the yeast with warm water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Adding Bacon and Cheese:
- Add the crumbled bacon and grated cheese to the dough. Mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
- Kneading and Rising:
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough back into the mixing bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Preparing the Slow Cooker:
- Grease the inside of your slow cooker with a little oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Optionally, you can place a piece of parchment paper at the bottom of the slow cooker to make it easier to remove the bread later.
- Shaping the Dough and Cooking:
- Punch down the risen dough to remove excess air.
- Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf that fits comfortably inside the slow cooker.
- Place the shaped dough into the slow cooker.
- If desired, sprinkle additional cheese and bacon on top of the dough.
- Slow Cooking:
- Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it to the “low” heat setting.
- Slow-cook the bread for about 2-3 hours, or until the bread is cooked through and has a golden-brown crust.
- Finishing Touches:
- Once the bread is done, carefully remove it from the slow cooker and place it on a wire rack to cool.
- Enjoying Your Bacon and Cheese Slow-Cooked Bread:
- Allow the bread to cool for a bit before slicing and serving.
- This bread is perfect for sandwiches, as a side to soups, or simply as a tasty snack.
Keep in mind that slow cookers can vary in terms of temperature and cooking time, so it’s a good idea to monitor the bread as it cooks. Adjust the cooking time accordingly based on your slow cooker’s performance.
