How to Make It
Follow these simple steps to ensure your chicken comes out perfectly tender every time.
-
Layer the Chicken: Place your chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Do not add water or broth! The chicken will release its own juices, which combine with the butter to make a thick sauce.
-
Season Heavily: Evenly sprinkle the Ranch seasoning, the gravy/taco mix, and the Italian seasoning over the top of the raw chicken.
-
The Butter Topping: As shown in the photo, place the pats of butter across the seasoned chicken. This allows the butter to melt down through the spices and into the meat.
-
Slow Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours.
-
The Finish: Once the timer is up, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the pot, stirring it into the buttery juices, or serve the breasts whole with the sauce ladled over the top.

Completing the Meal
Now that your kitchen smells incredible, here is how to serve this “most requested” dish.
What to Serve With This:
-
Mashed Potatoes: The buttery sauce acts as a built-in gravy.
-
Egg Noodles: A classic pairing that soaks up every drop of flavor.
-
Steamed Broccoli or Green Beans: The freshness cuts through the richness of the butter.
-
Crusty Bread: Essential for mopping up the bottom of the plate.
Storage and Reheating:
-
Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
-
Freezer: This freezes beautifully! Store in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
-
Reheating: Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of chicken broth if the sauce has thickened too much in the fridge.
The Result: You’ll end up with a fork-tender meal that tastes like you spent all day in the kitchen, even though the slow cooker did all the heavy lifting. Enjoy!
