Instructions
-
Prep the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain the liquid fat thoroughly to keep the final dish from being oily.
-
Combine: Transfer the cooked beef into the slow cooker. Pour the cans of pork and beans directly over the meat.
-
Season: Add the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Give everything a good stir until the beef and beans are evenly coated in the sauce.
-
Slow Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 4 to 5 hours or on High for 2 to 3 hours. You’re essentially looking for the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken into a rich glaze.
-
Serve: This is fantastic served over white rice, alongside a slice of buttery cornbread, or even scooped onto toasted buns for a “Sloppy Joe” style dinner.
Quick Tip: If you want a little kick, a teaspoon of chili powder or a few dashes of hot sauce can really wake up those flavors without overcomplicating the prep.
