Flaxseed Mug Bread


Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe ramekin or small glass bowl, whisk together the ground flaxseed, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Crack the egg into the bowl and add the oil/butter (and water if using). Mix thoroughly with a fork until there are no lumps.

  3. Smooth the Top: Level the batter with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle a few whole flaxseeds on top for decoration.

  4. Microwave: Cook on high for 90 seconds.

    Note: Depending on your microwave’s power, it might need anywhere from 60 to 120 seconds. It’s done when the top is firm to the touch.

  5. Cool and Slice: Let it sit for a minute to cool. Run a knife around the edges to pop it out, then slice it into rounds just like in your image.


Pro Tips

  • Toast it: This bread tastes even better if you lightly toast the slices in a pan with a little butter after slicing.

  • Savory Twist: Add a pinch of garlic powder or dried herbs (like rosemary) to the batter for more flavor.
